There’s no single best free enneagram test. It depends on what you want from the result. For a free result with no email, Truity, Personality Path, Eclectic Energies, and the test on this site all qualify. They differ in length and in how much of the result they show. If you’re willing to pay, the RHETI from The Enneagram Institute ($20) is the most established instrument, and the iEQ9 (from $60) goes deepest.

The comparison at a glance

Every fact below comes from each test’s own website, checked in October 2026. Where a site doesn’t say, the table says “not stated.”

Test Cost Length Email or signup Free result shows Notes
Eclectic Energies (classical test) Free 78 to 126 statements Not stated Type and wing Drops types you don’t identify with as you go. Separate instinct test.
Truity Free basic result, paid full report (price not stated) About 105 questions, 10 to 15 minutes No for basic results; account optional Scores for all nine types Full report costs extra.
Crystal Free; optional Premium at $49/month About 10 minutes; question count not stated No account to start; results saved to a free account Core type, likely wing, fear, desire, stress and growth Premium adds written advice.
Personality Path Free; paid full report (price not stated) 45 to 93 questions, about 12 minutes No email required Most likely type and scores for all nine Account optional for saving.
Enneagram Universe Free 180 statements No sign-up, per the test page Type and a written reading Site gives two different time estimates.
RHETI (Enneagram Institute) $20 144 paired statements, about 40 minutes Purchase required PDF with scores for all nine, detail on your top three Forced choice. Not free.
iEQ9 (Integrative Enneagram) $60 Personal, $120 Professional 175 questions, about 30 minutes Purchase required No free result Covers subtypes, centers, wings, lines, and levels.
This site Free 45 statements, about 5 minutes No email, no signup Type, scores for all nine, wing, tritype estimate Scored in your browser. Our own questions, not a validated instrument.

A few terms used above. Your wing is the neighbouring type on the enneagram circle that colours your main type. Your tritype is three types, one from each of the three centers (gut, heart, and head). A forced-choice test makes you pick one of two statements instead of rating each on a scale.

Eclectic Energies

Eclectic Energies’ classical test is free. It shows statements in pages of up to nine, one per type, and you grade each one. As you go, it drops statements for types you clearly don’t relate to. That’s why the length varies: the site says a minimum of 78 statements and a maximum of 126.

The result gives your type and your wing. A separate free test covers the instinctual variants, the three instincts (self-preservation, social, and sexual) that add another layer to your type. Read more on the instinctual variants page. The site doesn’t mention email or signup, and it doesn’t describe a tritype in its result.

Good for: a free, adaptive test, plus a separate instinct test.

Truity

Truity’s test has about 105 questions and takes 10 to 15 minutes. The basic result is free and shows how you scored on each of the nine types. You don’t need an email to see it. After the test you can create an account to save your result, but that’s optional.

The full in-depth report costs extra. The test page doesn’t list the price, so check at the unlock step.

Good for: a polished test with a free nine-type score breakdown.

Crystal

Crystal says its enneagram test is completely free and takes about 10 minutes. It doesn’t state the number of questions. You don’t need an account to start, but Crystal says results are saved to a free Crystal account, and the page doesn’t spell out whether you can view them without one.

The free result covers your core type, your likely wing, your core fear and desire, and your stress and growth directions. Crystal Premium, at $49 a month, adds written advice based on your results.

Good for: a quick test with a readable result, if you don’t mind an account.

Personality Path

Personality Path’s free test asks between 45 and 93 questions depending on your answers, and takes about 12 minutes. The site says no email is required and you can see your result in the browser. Creating an account to save it is optional.

The free result names your most likely type and shows a graphic of your score for each of the nine types. A paid full report is available, but the price isn’t listed on the test page.

Good for: an adaptive test with no email and a nine-type score chart.

Enneagram Universe

Enneagram Universe offers a free 180-statement test. Its test page says you get your type and a full reading with no sign-up. Time estimates on the site don’t agree: one section says about 35 minutes, and a banner says about 10. With 180 statements, plan for the longer figure.

The page doesn’t say whether the result includes a wing or scores for each type.

Good for: people who want a long test and don’t mind the time.

RHETI (Enneagram Institute)

The RHETI (Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator) is the test from The Enneagram Institute, founded by Don Riso and Russ Hudson. It costs $20. It has 144 paired statements, and for each pair you choose the one that fits you better. It takes about 40 minutes.

You get a PDF with scores for all nine types and longer descriptions of your top three. The Institute describes the RHETI as independently scientifically validated. It’s built on the Riso-Hudson type descriptions, the same type names this site uses.

Good for: anyone willing to pay for the most established enneagram instrument.

iEQ9 (Integrative Enneagram)

The iEQ9 is a paid assessment with four report versions: Personal, Professional, Team, and Couple. It has 175 questions and takes about 30 minutes. The Personal report costs USD 60 and the Professional report USD 120.

The report covers far more than your type: the 27 subtypes, centers, wings, lines, levels of integration, and what the site calls six dimensions of strain. There’s no free result.

Good for: coaching, team work, or a deep paid report.

This site

The test on this site has 45 statements, five per type, and takes about five minutes. There’s no email, no signup, and no paywall. Your answers are scored in your browser, so they don’t leave your device.

The result shows your primary type, your scores across all 9 types, your dominant wing, and a tritype estimate. It also flags a close call when your top two types are nearly tied.

Where others are stronger: the questions and scoring are our own, and the test hasn’t been through the kind of validation the RHETI claims. At 45 statements it’s shorter than most tests here, which trades some precision for speed. It doesn’t test the instinctual variants, which Eclectic Energies and the iEQ9 do. The full method is on how this test works.

Good for: a fast, private result with all nine scores, wing, and tritype in one go.

How to pick a test

Start with what you need from the result.

If you want privacy and no email, choose a test that shows the result in your browser without an account: this site, Truity, Personality Path, or Eclectic Energies.

If you want your full profile, pick one that shows scores for all nine types, not just a single number. Truity, Personality Path, the RHETI, and this site do. Your real type is often your second or third score, so seeing the whole spread matters.

If you want a tritype or instinct reading, check the result list in the table. This site estimates tritype. Eclectic Energies has a separate instinct test. The iEQ9 covers subtypes in its paid report.

If you want the most established instrument and don’t mind paying, the RHETI is $20.

Whatever you take, treat the result as a starting point. Read your top two or three types and compare their core fears and desires to your own life. The guide to finding your type walks through it, and the types hub has all nine in full.

FAQ

What is the best free enneagram test?

It depends on what you want. For a free result with no email, Truity, Personality Path, Eclectic Energies, and this site all work. Truity and Personality Path show scores for all nine types. This site adds a wing and a tritype estimate. If you’ll pay, the RHETI ($20) is the most established instrument.

Is there a free enneagram test with no email?

Yes. This site, Truity, and Personality Path all show a result without asking for an email, per their own pages in October 2026. Eclectic Energies doesn’t mention email at all on its test pages. Crystal lets you start without an account but saves results to a free account.

Which free enneagram test shows full results?

Truity and Personality Path show your score for every one of the nine types for free. This site shows all nine scores plus your dominant wing and a tritype estimate. Eclectic Energies shows your type and wing. Crystal shows your type, likely wing, and core fear and desire.

Is the RHETI free?

No. The RHETI from The Enneagram Institute costs $20 per test, checked on its order page in October 2026. It has 144 paired statements and takes about 40 minutes. You get a PDF with scores for all nine types and longer descriptions of your top three.

How accurate are free enneagram tests?

They’re good at narrowing your type to two or three likely candidates, not at handing you a final answer. Self-report tests depend on answering honestly as you are, not as you’d like to be. Read your top results and compare their core motivations before you settle on a type.

Should I take more than one enneagram test?

It can help. If two different tests put the same type at or near the top, that’s a good sign. If they disagree, read the types they suggest side by side. Start with the free test here, then compare with one other from the table.
