What a tritype is
Your tritype is three enneagram types, one from each center, written as a three-digit code. The 9 types split into three centers:
- Gut center: Types 8, 9, and 1
- Heart center: Types 2, 3, and 4
- Head center: Types 5, 6, and 7
Your core type comes from one of these centers. The tritype adds the type you lean on most in each of the other two. The code lists all three in order of strength, so the first digit is your core type.
Tritype is a later addition to enneagram theory. It was developed by Katherine Chernick Fauvre, an enneagram researcher, and it is not part of the original model. Treat it as a useful lens, not settled fact. For a full guide and a worked example, read what an enneagram tritype is.
How this test finds your tritype
You rate 45 short statements on a five-point scale. Each statement counts toward one of the 9 types, and the questions are split evenly, so no type gets a head start.
The test then picks the highest-scoring type in each center and orders those three by score. That gives you your tritype code. You also see your primary type, your dominant wing, and your scores across all 9 types, so you can check how close the runners-up are.
